Every two years the Olympic Games are held, where the best athletes of the planet are determined. We create «sports legends» and world heroes. We admire them. We need them to entice us, to entertain us, and take our thoughts off of the troubles of this world. We applaud and extol them, and then we forget. World legends such as Mohammed Ali, Paavo Nurmi, Boris Shakhlin, Vera Chaslavska and others are hardly remembered nowadays. But these people created the history of the 20th century. Why do we need heroes? And why do we call them legends if we forget about them after just a few decades?
